Notifications

If a check-in isn't completed in time, your Trusted Contacts are alerted automatically by email from our servers — even if your phone dies or loses signal. During an alert you'll also see one-tap buttons to text them. There's nothing to switch on; it just works whenever you check in.

🎯 How It Works

  1. Set Your Timer: Before checking in, choose how long you'll be out (5-180 minutes, default: 30 minutes)
  2. Check In: Press "Check In" when you arrive
  3. Timer Runs: The timer counts down. Need more time? Tap "+ Add 15 minutes" while checked in
  4. Check Out Safely: Press "Check Out" when you leave - your Trusted Contacts will receive an automatic "All Clear" email confirmation
  5. Auto-Alert: If timer reaches zero without checkout, Trusted Contacts are automatically notified via email, and you'll see SMS buttons to text them

📍 Moving around? Your location updates automatically in the background during a check-in, so if an alert ever fires, your contacts see where you actually are — not just where you checked in.

⚠️ Important: Set a realistic time estimate. You can add 15 minutes at a time if you're running long.

📧 Automatic Email Notifications

Your Trusted Contacts receive professional email alerts automatically from our servers:

  • Safe Check-Out Email: Sent when you check out safely - confirms you're okay with location and time
  • Emergency Alert Email: Sent if timer expires - includes your exact location, map link, phone number, and action instructions
  • SOS Alert Email: Sent if you press the emergency button - immediate notification with all your details

How SMS Works:

  1. You'll see a list of your contacts with "Send SMS" buttons
  2. Tap the button for each contact
  3. Your phone's SMS app opens with the message pre-filled
  4. Tap "Send" to deliver the text message
  5. Repeat for each contact

⚠️ SMS Requires Your Phone To Be:

Unlike emails, SMS requires your phone to be functional. If your phone dies, emails still send but SMS will need to be sent once phone powers back on.

👥 Contact Priority System

You can also add a photo and a relationship (Family, Spouse/Partner, Friend, etc.) to each contact from the Contacts screen — handy for telling everyone apart at a glance.

⚡ Primary Contacts

Receive alerts immediately when timer expires or SOS is triggered. Their SMS buttons appear first. Best for: spouse, partner, office manager, or close family.

⏱️ Secondary Contacts

Their SMS buttons appear after 30 seconds. Use for backup contacts who should only be notified if primary contacts don't respond immediately. Emails still sent immediately to all contacts.

⚖️ Consent Required: You must have permission from each contact before adding them. By adding a contact, you confirm they have consented to receive emergency alerts via email and SMS.

  • Standard visits: 30-45 minutes
  • Extended visits: 60-90 minutes
  • Long visits: 90-180 minutes

Why do I need to send SMS manually?

Manual SMS ensures 100% delivery reliability and avoids carrier restrictions on automated texts. You're in complete control, and there are no monthly SMS costs!

What if I don't have cell signal?

Emails will still send automatically from our servers - they don't need your phone to have signal! SMS messages will need to wait until you have signal. Always check your signal before entering remote areas.

Will alerts send if my phone dies?

Yes! Once a check-in is started, the timer runs on our secure cloud servers (not your phone). Emails will automatically send when the timer expires, regardless of your phone's status. SMS will need to be sent manually once your phone powers back on.

Does shake detection work with screen off?

No. Shake detection requires the screen to be on and the app to be active. However, when you check in, the screen automatically stays on for the entire check-in, so shake detection remains active throughout your visit.

Why should I keep a check-in history?

Check-in history provides legal protection, insurance documentation, and workplace compliance proof. If an incident occurs, having timestamped records with GPS coordinates can be crucial for liability protection. Many insurance companies also offer discounts for documented safety protocols.

How do I export my history?

From the History screen, tap the export button and choose CSV (for Excel) or PDF (for professional reports). Exports include all check-in details: dates, locations, durations, and emergency alerts. Available on Trial and Pro alike.

Can I extend my timer?

Yes — while checked in, tap "+ Add 15 minutes" under the Check Out button. Each tap adds 15 minutes and your Trusted Contacts' alert time moves with it.

How accurate is the GPS location?

GPS accuracy varies from 5-50 meters in good conditions. The app shows your accuracy rating. If GPS is poor, you can manually enter the address.

Do my contacts need the app?

No! Contacts receive alerts via regular email and SMS. They don't need to install anything.

Why does it warn me about Yahoo or AOL email addresses?

Yahoo, AOL, and similar providers throttle emails from senders they don't recognize yet, which can delay a first alert by hours. If a contact uses one of these, double-check their phone number too — SMS is the reliable backup for emergencies.

⚠️ Critical Disclaimer

This is a notification tool, NOT an emergency response service. It alerts your personal contacts but does not contact police or emergency services. Always call 911 in actual emergencies. Use this app as an additional safety layer alongside proper safety protocols.

✨ For Pro Users

If you're a Pro subscriber and want to manage or cancel your subscription:

  1. Click the ✨ PRO button at the top of the home screen
  2. Select "OK" when asked if you want to cancel your subscription
  3. Confirm cancellation in the follow-up dialog
  4. Your subscription will be canceled immediately

⚠️ Important: When you cancel, your contact limit drops back to 1 and you'll need to remove any extras. Your account reverts to trial status — everything else keeps working.

1SafeRE is a safety notification tool that helps people stay safe while working alone, traveling, or visiting unfamiliar places. The service provides check-in timers, location tracking, and Trusted Contact notifications.

2. Limitations and Disclaimers

THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE. 1SafeRE does not contact emergency services (911, police, fire, medical) on your behalf. The service only notifies your designated Trusted Contacts.

Technology Limitations: The service depends on cellular/internet connectivity, GPS functionality, battery power, and third-party services. We cannot guarantee service availability, message delivery, or location accuracy. Alerts may be delayed or fail to send due to technical issues beyond our control.

Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your personal safety. This app is a supplementary tool only and should not replace standard safety protocols, judgment, or direct emergency services contact when needed.

3. Liability Waiver

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 1SafeRE AND ITS OPERATORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, HARM, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR DEATH RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THIS SERVICE. YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH USING THIS APPLICATION.

5. Service Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

6. Payment Terms

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly at $3.00 USD. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect immediately. Refunds are not provided for partial billing months.

7. Privacy & Data

We collect location data, contact information, and usage data necessary to provide the service. Your data is stored securely but we cannot guarantee absolute security. Location data may be shared with Trusted Contacts during SOS alerts.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 1SafeRE from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
